Mega Ran (aka Random) Performing at Heroes and Villains for Free!

Mega Ran (aka Random) will be at Heroes and Villains once again here in Tucson, AZ! If you missed him perform the first time, here is your chance to see Mega Ran live. If you do come out, do not forget to bring something special that you can carry because you never know if he may freestyle about that item. Oh and if you have not had the chance to hear him, you have been missing out.

It’s fitting that Mega Ran (aka “Random” aka Raheem Jarbo) would perform at a comic book store, because he has more alter egos than the average Justice Leaguer.

Raheem is a middle school teacher by day, a critically acclaimed indie rapper (“Random”) by night, and a Capcom-sponsored nerdcore rapper (“Mega Ran”) by later that night.

It’s in that last persona that Raheem will appear June 21st at 5pm at Heroes and Villains, for a totally super free concert.

Fans of hip-hop, videogames, comic books and Saturday morning cartoons won’t want to miss it!

Here’s a link to some videos of Mega Ran’s last Heroes and Villains appearance:

Do not forget to bring that favorite item!

Marvel vs. Capcom Party at the Phoenix Comicon 2012

The 2012 Phoenix Comicon has come to a close and we had a blast this past weekend! Great panels, guests, and lots of extras after the exhibit hall closed each evening. Saturday evening would have a few big events, such as the Anime Rave: Pokemon and Ninjas vs. Pirates, Geek Prom, Masquerade, and the Marvel vs. Capcom Party.

We attended the Marvel vs. Capcom party, which would include performances by Snubby J and Mega Ran aka Random. Last year, Mega Ran had a show for Phoenix Comicon and we loved it! We have had the opportunity to see him perform a few times now and we were not going to miss this opportunity to see him again.

The show would begin with Snubby J to start off. We did not know anything about Snubby J, but I was really looking forward to his performance. I am a fan of the Blue Man Group and Kent Jenkins (Snubby J) was inspired by them to create his very own pvc instrument, Rimba Tubes.

He set the show off right with his performance by playing some very familiar and popular video game tracks. The crowd was amazed by his first song as we were and we had to get some video footage. He would perform the Queen classic, Bohemian Rhapsody, which would be the first time he performed it. It was amazing because of his performance, but because of the audience participation as you can hear.

Snubby J definitely rocked the crowd with his performance and he would end it right with an original.

Next up after Snubby J, would be Mega Ran's aka Random's performance with his DJ, DN3. He would start off his show a bit different this time with a special guest, Snubby J to join him for his intro and it was incredible! He played a very familiar video game that you will definitely recognize on his Rimba Tubes.

Mega Ran always knows how to liven up the crowd and he does it again with an amazing performance. He also brought a couple of guests along, Mr. Miranda and MC Pennywise. Random and Mr. Miranda known as Mirandom would perform Planet Silk. I love this track! MC Pennywise would then join them to perform a Writer's Guild track, which is the three members along with RoQy TyRaiD. Mega Ran always does something that continues to amaze me every time we get to see him perform, his freestyle track. This is where the audience will hold something in their hand and he will freestyle about it in his rhymes. We would be fortunate again to be included in his song!! Go Koalas!!

Thanks again Mega Ran aka Random and DJ DN3 for another amazing performance!

Amazing surprise after the show! Mega Ran was wearing the Angry Koala Gear t-shirt!!

Meeting Mega Ran (AKA Random) in Tucson, AZ

This Saturday happened to be an amazing day here in Tucson, AZ!! We had the opportunity to meet Mega Ran (a.k.a. Random) at Heroes and Villains for his in store concert and signing. He had set up the show before he would have his concert at the Vaudeville later that night. He is on tour doing his VS. Tour, which featured Roqy Tyraid, Willie Evans Jr., his DJ DN3, and himself, Random.

The adventure began at Heroes and Villains, one of our local comic shops. The geeks and nerds would unite for a special treat with the in store concert. Well, we had an awesome opportunity to interview Random right before the show!

Shortly after the interview, the show would begin. The in store concert started with Willie Evans Jr. who is truly amazing. I have not seen him before, but I can say I became an instant fan. His style reminds me of one of my favorites, MF Doom. He creates his own beats and what makes him unique is that he is the first to mix and chop a music video into his own. Incredible!!

Willie Evans Jr. would end his performance with Nerd English. This song made the crowd get hype because he showed us his room, which is filled with many action figures and comics. Made me feel at home!

After the Willie Evans Jr. performance, Mega Ran (a.k.a. Random) would come on stage. He continued the crowd pleasing with an amazing performance as we had witnessed at last year's Phoenix Comicon. He performed a few songs and ended with something very unique that he does at every show. He has a gift as he mentioned in the interview about how he continues to come up with music and lyrics. He can freestyle about literally about anything and in the in stores show he would do that about comic books.

After the show, he had a signing and made sure to meet everyone in the store. Random is such a great guy that gets everyone to love him!

The adventure would finally end at the Vaudeville, here in downtown Tucson, AZ where Random had his VS. Tour scheduled. Roqy Tyraid would open up the show with a nice performance. Willie Evans Jr. would then come on with a few songs that were familiar to us that he performed at Heroes and Villains, but I could never get tired of this incredible performance. He definitely knows how to get the crowd jumping and participating in his show.

This is one slide that I will have to always remember him for. Pretty funny!

After, Willie Evans Jr. would peform, DJ DN3 and Random would get on stage. His show at Heroes and Villains was great, but this performance at Vaudeville would be incredible! We loved his performance once again. He even had a special guest come through that had to check his show out, Murs!! Murs is one of my all time favorites and Random says Murs is his favorite. It was an awesome surprise indeed!
Just as he always ends his shows, Random did his freestyle performance. Unfortunately, he had microphone difficulities that did not allow him to come into the crowd as he loves doing, so he brought the crowd to him this time. Everyone reached into their pockets and he began to flow about those items. Angry Koala Gear would be in for a treat and some love and he mentions the Sticker! (He also mentioned loving my Adidas Stormtrooper Shirt) If you have not had the chance to see Random (a.k.a. Mega Ran), please do check him out. You will not be disappointed.

As I said earlier, Murs was in the house and we definitely had to take a picture with him. I was holding up his new Kickstarter for his cd/comic collaboration, Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl. There will be more info to come in a post real soon! Stay tuned!

Murs even gave us his Angry Koala face. Too awesome!!

We just want to thank Random for the interview opportunity and amazing shows at both Heroes and Villains and at the Vaudeville! We will be seeing you at the Phoenix Comicon with your shirt for sure.

Mega Ran (AKA Random) In-Store Concert and Autograph Session at Heroes and Villains

Random aka "Mega Ran" is a Capcom-sponsored rapper who spits rhymes about Mako Reactors and 8-bit bosses over remixed videogame soundtracks.

It's exactly like it sounds: AWESOME!

And he's swinging by Heroes and Villains on February 25th from 5pm-6pm for a FREE mini-concert and autograph session before his show at Vaudeville Cabaret Tucson at 8pm!

The concert is absolutely FREE, but bring some scratch for T-shirts and buttons and vinyl and stuff :)

If you do not know who Mega Ran (Random) is, he has done quite a few albums using some amazing beats that may be very familiar, especially if you are a gamer! Not only has he used classic beats from Mega Man, but he also has used music from Final Fantasy. His music has been aired in TV from TNA Wrestling to ESPN with his new hit, Mega Ran's Jeremy Lin Rap!!

This is one of my favorites!

Please check out Heroes and Villains Facebook page! We thank them for setting up another great event!

Phoenix Comicon - Random (aka Mega Ran) Concert

This past Memorial Weekend, downtown Phoenix was filled with geeks, nerds, cosplayers, comic book artists and writers, actors, and much more. Why were all these people here, you may ask? The Phoenix Comicon of course, which had an attendance of over 20,000 people. This comic con had the normal exhibit hall with vendors from toys, art, comics, costume groups, and more, but it also added something different than most. There were actually concerts throughout the event, which included Random (aka Mega Ran), a hip hop artist that features 8-bit samples with lyrics inspired by your favorite games such as Mega Man, Final Fantasy, and more. I actually came across hearing a couple of his tracks last year and one song caught my ears, My Love, which features an incredible beat. I have this track in my IPod and when I seen that he was performing, we had to check it out.

Random (Mega Ran) performing One Winged Angel from Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII from his album, Black Materia: Final Fantasy.

Random (Mega Ran) freestyling in the audience and flowing about anything the guests had in their hands.

Random (aka Mega Ran) had a great show at the Phoenix Comicon. He brought great audience interaction and we enjoyed hearing the beats with music from some of our favorite video games.   Hopefully he will return to Phoenix Comicon 2012.
