Gentle Giant Star Wars Jar Jar Binks and W. Wald Holiday Mini Bust Review

2012 has recently come to a close and the holidays have come to an end to start celebrating a new year in 2013. Gentle Giant would help us to bring in the new year with the annual Holiday exclusive mini bust, but this time as a set! We recently received the Star Wars Holiday Jar Jar Binks and W. Wald mini bust set and we were excited.

The 2012 Premier Guild Exclusive Holiday Star Wars Jar Jar Binks with W. Wald mini bust set is extremely limited with only 600 pieces. The packaging is terrific with great pictures capturing what we will find inside.

It was now time to unveil this new Holiday set we have been waiting for to add to our other Gentle Giant Holiday sets. The packaging is always terrific from Gentle Giant with strong styrofoam that assures quality control in risk of damage.

Many collectors may criticize Gentle Giant and ask why Jar Jar Binks for a Holiday exclusive? People either liked Jar Jar in the Star Wars prequels or hated him, but we have to say we loved him. George Lucas always gave his fans humor in the original trilogy, whether it was with Han Solo or C-3PO and we would continue to see that fun side with Jar Jar.

This is the first time that Gentle Giant has made a Jar Jar Binks mini bust and it is truly an amazing piece from the sculpt, incredible details, to the paint. Gentle Giant always knows how to please Star Wars fans with their detail and creativity in their work, which is why they are the best in mini busts.

 W. Wald is definitely not one of the most popular and sought after characters in the Star Wars universe, which makes this mini bust interesting to be part of the set. Gentle Giant's amazing detail makes it easier to say why not take the risk to create this young Rodian character who has a couple minutes of fame in The Phantom Menace.

Again, the sculpt, paint, and details are what make Gentle Giant Studios the best in creating the Star Wars mini busts.

We had the opportunity to see the introduction of the 2012 Gentle Giant Star Wars Holiday exclusive at the San Diego Comic Con last July and could not wait. As we were waiting as other collectors were, Gentle Giant would inform us that there was a problem with the special Christmas lights that would be included with Jar Jar Binks. Fans would be upset in the news, so Gentle Giant would listen to the fans and their concerns and appease us.

Jar Jar Binks pose with his thumb up is a perfect pose for this bust. The cool thing about Jar Jar Binks is that you can display him year round in his regular clothing or display him during the Christmas holidays with his removable Santa hat and Christmas Lights.

Yakface is still our favorite Star Wars Holiday Exclusive mini bust from Gentle Giant, but Jar Jar Binks with W. Wald is real close. We love this set and Gentle Giant continues to keep us in great spirit during the holidays with their Star Wars cheer!

If you missed out on the 2012 Gentle Giant Premier Guild Membership Holiday Exclusive, you still have a chance to purchase the Star Wars Jar Jar Binks with W. Wald mini bust set by purchasing a 2013 Gentle Giant Premier Guild Membership and ordering the set.

We look forward to another amazing year in 2013 from Gentle Giant and we will continue to share the news and updates!!

Gentle Giant Star Wars Jumbo Vintage Kenner 12" Power of the Force Edition

One of my favorite toy lines that is from Gentle Giant Ltd. is the Jumbo Vintage Kenner Star Wars figures. Brings back my memories as a child playing with the original Star Wars figures on the Vintage cards, but much bigger. The first figure that would start off this amazing line 2 years ago is the San Diego Comic Con exclusive Stormtrooper, which would continue with many great figures.

The newest figure to join the Jumbo Vintage Kenner Star Wars collection is the Premier Guild Member Gammorean Guard. What we knew about the Gammorean Guard was that it would be coming on the Vintage Return of the Jedi card, but ended up receiving a huge surprise this week. The Gammorean Guard will still be available on the The Return of the Jedi card, but available to everyone. PGM members are in for a great surprise and I was thrilled when I heard the news and saw what was to come! We will be getting a Vintage Power of the Force card, plus a Gammorean Guard coin to go with it. Not only is the card cool, but to think even a coin and it is 3".

Who is excited about seeing the return of The Power of the Force cards? I do hope we see this line continue with the original POTF cards and coins, especially on some of the super rare figures.

Star Wars Celebration VI Exclusives from Gentle GIant Now Available for Pre-Order

With a little less than a month away from Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando, FL., more information about the amazing Star Wars exclusives continues to roll in. Great news for those who will not be able to attend this year! Gentle Giant is offering their Star Wars Celebration VI exclusives to be available to Premier Guild Members as they did for the last celebration.

There are two exclusives that are now available to pre-order, but again you need to be a Premier Guild Member. What can be more exciting to have a Jumbo Vintage Kenner Lando for Orlando? Yes, there will be a SWCVI Exclusive Jumbo Vintage Kenner Lando Calrissian 12" figure!

Just like they were when you were a kid, only BIGGER! Gentle Giant continues on with their new line of vintage Star Wars Action figure reproductions with the release of Lando Calrissian!!! Digitally scanned from mint 3 3/4” Kenner originals and reproduced to a substantial 12” tall. Nothing has been overlooked. Roto and injection molded and made of durable plastics, this jumbo figure includes a vinyl cape and blaster, just like the original!

That’s not all, this classic Kenner creation comes packaged on a 1981, Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back inspired blister card, featuring original front, in a re-sealable plastic outer clam shell to help protect and display!

The second exclusive from Gentle Giant that will available from Star Wars Celebration VI is a Blue Clone Trooper Statue. He is now available for pre-order for Gentle Giant Premier Guild Members.

Cloned and specially trained as officers on the watery world of Kamino, the clone trooper lieutenants served in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars conflict. The rank of clone trooper lieutenant is recognized specifically by blue markings on the helmet and torso. Superior training and an unwavering loyalty to the Galactic Republic made the clone troopers the most efficient military forces ever to have existed in galactic history. This highly-detailed statue, based on the original Lucasfilm costumes and props, was sculpted and painted by Gentle Giant Ltd. We hope you enjoy it.

Just a couple of reasons why it is great to become a PGM member with Gentle Giant!

Gentle Giant at San Diego Comic Con

Gentle Giant LTD had so many items to drool over during the San Diego Comic Con.
We took a tour of Gentle Giant's booth with Greg Crafts the Marketing Coordinator.

Our first stop took us back to our childhood. Remember playing with the green army men? Now you can play with The Walking Dead "army men". Okay so the zombies aren't exactly army men but this is the first time that marks Gentle Giant going directly to retail. You can look for these starting next year.

The next stop was the 12-inch Star Wars Kenner vintage line. A few of the new figures on display were the Gamorrean Guard (a gift for Premier Guild Members), Lando Calrissian (Celebration Six exclusive figure), Hammerhead and many more. The San Diego Comic Con exclusive figure was the blue Snaggletooth. Something that we loved about the figures on display was the backdrop. It looks a lot like the cantina playset from 1978. This same backdrop will be available around Christmas time. Just in time to play with, oh I mean display the set.

After the movie opens in December opens, Gentle Giant plans on showing off more from The Hobbit line. Shown below are Dwalin (a Premier Guild gift) and of course Gandalf. There are plans for statues in the future when the movie opens.

The next stop was The Walking Dead line. Gentle Giant created a prop replica of Rick Grimes shield and name tag. Perfect for collectors or cosplayers.  The Well Walker was rather disgusting. We could never forget the scene in season two of The Walking Dead with the 'explosive' Well Walker.

Honey-Trap marks Gentle Giant's first time creating their own content. Gentle Giant is home to many great sculptors and talent. There are currently five characters in the Honey-Trap series and each girl has her own story. The poster artwork is by Kevin Dart. There are plans on sharing the stories of the Honey-Trap characters soon. We can't wait to learn more about the characters.

Of course what would a visit to the Gentle Giant booth be without Star Wars characters. This year's holiday mini bust is going to be Jar Jar Binks. From the Star Wars animated series Gentle Giant displayed the Sandtrooper on Dewback and the Biker Scout with ewoks.  One of the most impressive Star Wars pieces was the Darth Maul. Check out the pictures below.
