Idolized #5 Title Contest from Aspen Comics

“IDOLIZED”, the hit new comic book series from Aspen Comics, focuses on a reality TV show where viewers vote to select the next “Superhero Idol”.

In keeping with that theme, Aspen has consistently given readers exciting opportunities to vote on – and help to create – various aspects of the critically-acclaimed series.  First, fans voted on the costume designs for the IDOLIZED characters, then they voted on which reader-created character would be featured in the comic.

Now, as Aspen prepares the final issue of IDOLIZED volume 1, they’re offering fans the chance to vote on the climactic issue’s title.

“Each issue of IDOLIZED has had a title that’s a play on the title of a classic song, and readers have really gotten a big kick out of that aspect of the series” said Aspen’s Editor-in-Chief Vince Hernandez.  “It seems like such a small detail at first, but people have really been responding to it.”

The prior issue titles were:
Issue Zero: ”Every Little Things She Does is Tragic”
Issue One: “Don’t Stop Deceiving”
Issue Two: “No Sleep ‘Til Top Ten”
Issue Three: “It’s the End of the Show As We Know It (Do I Survive?)”
Issue Four: “Glory Daze”

“For issue five, we needed to find a title that reflected the themes contained in this big, over-sized final issue,” said IDOLIZED writer David B. Schwartz.  “This issue is about redemption, about trying to find ways to let go of anger, fear and hatred, and to see what you can amount to, what kind of life you can live, if you finally stop harboring those destructive emotions.  It’s also about unity, about a team of former competitors coming together to try and achieve something grand and heroic.  So, each of these potential titles had to reflect that in some way.”

Starting today, and running through January 1st, all comic fans can visit www.Facebook.com/IDOLIZEDComic to cast their votes for any one of these potential titles:

“They Might be Idols”
“Contestants of the World, Unite and Take Over”
“We Need Joule Tonight”
“Forever Your Joule”
OR…
fans can enter their own potential titles into the mix!

As an added bonus, two fans will win copies of all 3 covers of IDOLIZED #5, signed by David. One set will go to the first person who correctly identifies each of the original song titles being used, and the artist who originally recorded that song.  Another set will go to a randomly-selected person who entered their own suggested title into the voting options.

“IDOLIZED” is Aspen's first-ever superhero series.  It tells the story of girl with super-powers and a dark past, who seeks revenge, and ultimately finds redemption, over the course of competing in a televised super-hero competition show.  Essentially, it’s “True Grit” meets “American Idol”…with capes.  The series is written by David B. Schwartz (acclaimed writer of Image Comics’ “MELTDOWN”, “Aspen Showcase: Ember” and “Fathom: Blue Descent”), with explosive art by Micah Gunnell (“Shrugged”, “Executive Assistant: Orchid”, “Dellec”) and  Pasquale Qualano (“Grimm Fairy Tales”) with colors by David Curiel ("Executive Assistant: Orchid").

Aspen Comics Idolized #0 Review

What can happen in a world filled with superheroes with extraordinary powers? We live in a world today that “idolizes” pop music superstars and people with unique “talents”. Some actually are idolized everyday and many people have to watch those who “I like to get drunk and party and follow me around everywhere on camera, so I can embarrass myself in front of millions of people”. Aspen Comics and David Schwartz have just created a new and for the first time Superhero series, Idolized. Idolized takes those contests that millions of people vote for each week on their favorite broadcast channel to a new level. An elimination contest and vote for the “Superhero Idol”!

In a world filled with thousands of Superheroes, there may be many times where those individuals must get tired of those powers and want an everyday normal life. There are also times, where those individuals want to strive to be the greatest. In Idolized, we will see thousands of superheroes to compete to show their strengths, courage, and their “Heart”. The contest will ultimately lead up to the top ten to compete in New York, the capital of  the world for Superheroes. Of course, there can only be one winner, who will be crowned and that winner will be guaranteed to become a member of the “Greatest Super-Group in World History”, The Powered Protectors.

Idolized is a series where we will learn of one individual who will make her dream come true of becoming that “Superhero Idol”, Leslie aka Joule. She will strive to be the best and to join The Powered Protectors, but did she do it for all the wrong reasons? Is seeking revenge the way we need to go to become the best?

In this first issue of Idolized #0, we learn the beginning of Joule and what pushed her to want to become Idolized. I loved the first issue! David Schwartz has created something that will get readers to want more. I am ready to learn more about who Leslie aka Joule is and why she is seeking her revenge, but has she paid the price in making a huge mistake?

Terrific start in a new series from Aspen Comics and it is hard to believe this is their first Superhero series. The art is by Micah Gunnell and the colors are by David Curiel. With a terrific story and amazing art, Idolized equals a hit series!

Aspen Comics: Get Idolized Sweepstakes

Aspen Comics has just launched a new sweepstakes today, Idolized. The contest gives the winner a chance of being drawn as a superhero in the new upcoming series, plus winning original art and signed copies of the series.

Idolized is going to be Aspen's first ever superhero series. It tells the story of a girl with super powers and a dark past, who seeks revenge, and ultimately finds redemption, over the course of competing in a televised super hero competition show.  Essentially, it’s “True Grit” meets “American Idol”…with capes.

From creator David Schwartz, writer of Aspen's Fathom: Blue Descent and the artist of Aspen's Shrugged and Dellec, Micah Gunnell, comes an all new series--Idolized! Only from Aspen Comics

Aspen Comics has gained a huge following by giving fans the chance to vote on what the characters in IDOLIZED will look like and now through their own creativity they could be drawn in by penciller Micah Gunnell.

TO ENTER THE CONTEST: Simply tell Aspen what super-powers you would have if you were a superhero, and why. Your entry can be purely text, or can include drawings and/or photos of yourself as the super-hero you’d dream of being. You can enter any time between now and February 13, simply by posting your submission on the Official Idolized Facebook Page and/or tweeting it with the hash-tag “#Idolized” in your t...weet. There’s no limit on the number of entries you can make.

Aspen will choose their five favorite entries, and the fans will then have the chance to vote among those five finalists to choose the ultimate winner. That winner will be drawn into issue #2 of IDOLIZED, and their name and likeness will appear in multiple panels as they join in a large-scale superhero battle.

And, as if actually being a superhero in a comic book wasn’t enough, the winner will also receive a page of original art that they appear in, and all five of the finalists will receive copies of each issue of IDOLIZED, signed by series writer David B. Schwartz and series artist Micah Gunnell.
