Darth Maul Mythos Statue Review

Sideshow Collectibles has done it again by capturing the living embodiment of evil in such jaw-dropping detail. When I saw the first pics last year, I was in complete awe! I just received my statue and it felt like Christmas all over again. Sideshow's great attention to detail and precision is legendary and to be honest with you, this is my first purchase at Sideshow. They really listen to the pop culture fans and give them realistic and true to the character hand crafted products. You get what you pay for and so much more! Darth Maul comes packaged safely in an awesomely labeled Sideshow shipping box. When you open that, you will fall in love with the Mythos packaging. The artwork by Chris Slane on the box is over the top and down right scary. Sideshow is so proud of their professional workmanship, they include a certificate of authenticity in a handsomely designed envelope. On one side is the certificate and the opposite side is Chris Slane's beautiful talent. The statue is secured in its custom made foam padding. It comes with 2 right hands (1st is an open hand gesture and the 2nd holds the weapon of the enemy), 1 left hand holding the double bladed lightsaber hilt, 2 different heads, 2 removable red saber blades, 1 base and Maul's body from the torso to his feet. I am extremely happy with this purchase, and you will too! What also makes me happy is that Sideshow makes a certain amount of pieces so that they keep their value. In this case, there were 2500 pieces made and I received #22!! Anyway, here are my pics. ENJOY...

Star Wars: Darth Maul - Death Sentence #2 in Stores This Week

It's a perfect storm of mayhem as brothers Darth Maul and Savage Opress collide with an army of mercenaries, augmented by a team of visiting Jedi!

The only thing that can make Darth Maul angrier than he is about the price on his head is having his brother captured by the man who put it there. If you thought two Sith were dangerous, wait until you see Darth Maul on his own!

The art is by Bruno Redondo and the cover art is by non other than Dave Dorman. The second issue will be out in stores this Wednesday, August 29th.

In an earlier post, we mentioned that Sideshow Collectibles is creating a new amazing line Star Wars Mythos. The first in the series is Darth Maul, the Dark Disciple and it will be available for pre-order this Thursday, May 3rd. 

The Sideshow Exclusive Darth Maul Mythos Statue will be available for Pre-Order through the Sideshow Newsletter on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012, which is typically published between 2PM and 3PM (Pacific Time).  The Sideshow Exclusive Darth Maul Mythos Statue will be priced at $249.99, will have a $25 Non-Refundable Deposit charged 24 to 48 hours after a Pre-Order is placed.

Star Wars Mythos from Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow Collectibles is introducing a new line in the Star Wars universe, Star Wars Mythos. 

 “The Star Wars Universe is limitless with possibilities, its mythology ever-expanding. Our art team wanted to contribute to that expansion by telling new stories about some of the most compelling Star Wars characters. With the encouragement of Lucasfilm, we created the Mythos line of statues.

This line of collectibles will be populated by characters from new and existing story lines. We will bring history, unique details and personal choices to each in order to elaborate on who they are. Through the design and sculpt process our goal is to delve deeper into these established characters and offer our own interpretations of what they have done outside of the Star Wars canon. 

Our art team is taking the themes and core concepts common to the Star Wars mythology, such as love, honor, hope, despair and adventure, and accentuating those themes to achieve a collection of figures unlike any we’ve previously offered. Our vision is to portray moments in the imagined lifetimes of these characters and reveal them in a new way, in a new light. Star Wars fans have a new line of statues from Sideshow Collectibles that will be sure to be an instant classic! The first to be introduced in the Star Wars Mythos collection will be Darth Maul, the Dark Disciple.

Here is the back story on Darth Maul from Sideshow Collectibles:

The winds throw a stinging sand across his bare skin, while his black robe snaps around the metallic hilt of the saberstaff hanging dormant at his waist. Maul is coiled, lethal, the force of his will pent-up with the violent need for his muscles to spring. Closing his eyes, he finds and grasps an agonizing memory.

Torture. His memories are of pain, of electric fire arcing from the contorted fingers of his master, coursing through his synapses as he cried out for relief. There would be no relief, though, short of marshaling his hate. He knows that hate unlocks the Dark Side. Only once consumed with hate would a master end the agony.

Anger builds around him now in waves. He allows it to increase, fed by those memories of pain, and of his master’s mocking laughter. A terrible rage grows, swelling within him, and a roaring fills his ears. His eyes snap open, glowing in horrible hues of red, orange, and yellow.
His anger is pure hatred. And that hatred explodes.

The next in line will be Ben Kenobi, the Desert Nomad.

Here is the back story to Ben Kenobi:

The boy is safe. Lars cannot hide his distaste for me, given my connection to the child’s father. Beru, however, is clearly smitten with the infant. But my presence is not welcome in their house. That is fine. I’ll watch over the child from a distance.

But first, I must ready myself. I will build a shelter across the Dune Sea from the Lars homestead. Close enough for me to sense any danger to the boy. Far enough away that the Empire may not discover him if they find me.

Master Yoda’s training was well-advised. I have already established a link with the spirit of my Master, Qui-Gon. His teachings endure from beyond the netherworld of the Force. There is a measure of comfort to be found there. And, someday, when my task is accomplished, I might be able to join him in that place.

But for now, I feel old. Old beyond my years. Desert life ages flesh and spirit, so I can only expect this to worsen the longer I remain on this world. The Tatooine storms will whip me with sands like a scourge. Each night I will hear in the winds the howls of my murdered Jedi kindred.

The Jedi are all but extinct. The few who survived Order 66 are continuously being hunted. Across the galaxy I am certain more will die. When I feel their deaths, I’ll dare not reach out to learn who it was, or to assist in any way. If I am discovered, then the boy may be discovered as well. And all will be lost.

I already wrestle with the weariness. The loss of my friend to this evil creature who has replaced him fills me with bitterness. But I must remember the words of my Master: Be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the moment. The boy is what matters. He IS the future.
Fool. I’m a damned idealistic fool. And blind, too. Anakin’s darkness was obvious. I should have foreseen this and prevented it. I failed him. My failure ended the Jedi Order.

The boy is our last hope. I failed Anakin. But I’ll not fail Luke. The son of Skywalker must become a Jedi.

The Star Wars Mythos line is definitely looking to be very promising and it should come to no surprise being created by the best in the business with Sideshow Collectibles. I am definitely looking forward to this new series!

Darth Maul's Return in The Clone Wars Custom Figure

Darth Maul has made his return in this past weekend's episode of The Clone Wars. Savage Opress searches far and wide to find his brother who he knows is alive. What we will learn in this episode is truly incredible! We do see the return of Darth Maul, but a bit different than we are used to. Next Friday will be the finale to this season in The Clone Wars and we will see Darth Maul in action.

Savage Opress does find his brother Darth Maul, but he seems to be very insane and looks very different. Very different! Darth Maul appears to have become an "Arachnid" like character.

Are you familiar with the amazing custom figures and creations by Sith_fire30 Creations? You should get familiar with Dayton Allen's amazing work, especially if you are a Star Wars fan. Sith_fire30 Creations has made some of the greatest customs from Star Wars Legacy, Old Republic, Original Trilogy customs, and now the Darth Maul Arachnid (still in progress).

The figure is still in progress and will be a 1:18 scale, super articulated replica of Maul from The Clone Wars "Brothers" episode. The body will have four ball jointed points for the spine, and ball jointed back end, fully articulated legs so the body can roll up and back and a basic upper body articulation. 

We look forward to seeing this figure complete and will share it as soon as it is complete. Truly amazing! 

Darth Maul's Return

Star Wars fans should be very pleased that we will soon have the return of Darth Maul! The Clone Wars will be bringing back the Sith Lord tomorrow evening on the Cartoon Network. He will be looking for revenge!!

In Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, the new Sith named Darth Maul would appear wielding his double-sided lightsaber. He was truly amazing! Obi-wan Kenobi would end his fate. He does return though in the Expanded Universe with a new appearance. 

We would soon get the new Darth Maul in a special San Diego Comic Con exclusive!

Sideshow Collectibles would then take him to the next level and bring us the ultimate in the Star Wars Premium Format Darth Maul with Mechanical Legs who is still available. 

And now, released today in a article from USA Today! Darth Maul will make his return with his mechanical legs in The Clone Wars on March 9th!!! 

This is going to be a very exciting return and Star Wars fans should be very pleased. I know that I am! I have watched this video about a hundred times already!! What are your thoughts? 

The Phantom Menace Ads Have Begun They Have

Brisk Tea just released a Star Wars commercial which features both Yoda and Darth Maul, super deformed style. You gotta love it! 

I am sure there will be plenty more coming out very soon for the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 3D next month in theaters. 

Gentle Giant Premier Guild Member Star Wars Darth Maul Mini Bust Review

Well, we had an awesome surprise come in the mail this past Saturday and just in time for the New Year! Gentle Giant Studios mailed out the 2011 Premier Guild Member exclusives just in time to celebrate the new year. 

We are huge Star Wars fans, so we had to go with choosing the PGM Star Wars Darth Maul mini bust and what a great time to add this piece in the Star Wars collection, especially when The Phantom Menace will be returning to theaters next month and in 3D for the first time!! 

Gentle Giant Studios is definitely best known for their Star Wars license in creating some of the best mini  busts out today. They have once again come through in packaging the Darth Maul mini bust in their signature glossy, black box with the open window revealing the characters head sculpt. 

The Epic Battle in 3D next February!

We are huge Star Wars fans, especially for the Original Trilogy. The Prequels are not our favorites, but they are Star Wars! Next February, 2012 will be the beginning of Star Wars as it has never been seen before. I am very excited knowing that George Lucas will be bringing Star Wars back and in 3D for the first time. I am definitely looking forward to seeing the Pod Races and the epic battle with Darth Maul in 3D and on the big screen!
