The Hobbit Figures First Look from Bridge Direct

San Diego Comic Con is nearly upon us and Middle-earth will be taking over the show! We first learned the news about The Hobbit figures coming from Bridge Direct a few months ago and we were anxiously awaiting the news and pictures of the new line. Well the wait is now over and we have some amazing news in sharing The Hobbit figures new line from Bridge Direct.

Weta The Hobbit Exclusives for San Diego Comic Con 2012

Middle-earth is coming to San Diego Comic Con in a big way next weekend, not only with the Warner Brothers panel for The Hobbit, Direct Bridge's Bilbo Baggins figure, Gentle Giants new license, and now statues from Weta!

The Hobbit - Bilbo Baggins Exclusive Figure from San Diego Comic Con

We first heard word that action figures would be coming soon from Bridge Direct for The Hobbit late last year and we were very excited. We have a great Lord of the Rings collection from Toy Biz during the releases of the trilogy. We would miss the LOTR action figures once we learned that the line would end. 

Great news is that there will be a full line from Bridge Direct and we are anxiously waiting to see what they will be creating. Great news for San Diego Comic Con attendees though! We will have the opportunity to hopefully get our hands on the SDCC Exclusive Bilbo Baggins figure from Bridge Direct.

ALL SIX BATMOBILES!

On display in “The Batcave”: all six Batmobiles from television and film! For the first time ever, Comic-Con fans will have the opportunity to see all of Batman’s iconic onscreen vehicles live and in person, from Adam West’s 1955 Lincoln Futura to the Tumbler from The Dark Knight trilogy.

Adam West’s 1955 Lincoln Futura. Designed by George Barris, this original Batmobile was featured in the cult classic television series and 1966’s Batman, the Movie.

Michael Keaton’s Batmobile from 1989’s Batman and 1992’s Batman Returns. Sleek and powerful with a central turbine, the vehicles’ slightly retro design followed Tim Burton’s art deco look of the films.

Revamped for Joel Schumacher’s 1995 Batman Forever, with bat-lighting and extended fins, Val Kilmer’s hot rod had the ability to drive up walls.

Schumacher updated the Batmobile once again for George Clooney in 1997’s Batman & Robin. At 33 feet long and a top speed of 350 mph with afterburner thrust, this was the largest and fastest Batmobile on the road.

The Tumbler designed for Christopher Nolan’s 2005 Batman Begins and 2008’s The Dark Knight is the prototype military vehicle designed by the character Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman).

The unveiling of the replacement Camouflage Tumbler, to be seen in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises, in theaters and IMAX July 20.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS VIDEO GAME SHOWCASE

With anticipation mounting for Warner Bros. Pictures’ December 14, 2012, release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey motion picture, directed by Peter Jackson and a production of New Line Cinema and MGM, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is showcasing two upcoming games set in Middle-earth.

Fans can play hands-on with new video game Guardians of Middle-earth as characters including Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, Thrain, Galadriel, Legolas and many more. This new multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game allows up to 10 players to engage in competitive matches. The game includes tie-ins with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey film. Tournaments will take place each evening, with prizes including custom-painted video game console systems and high-end gaming audio gear.

Weta is Bringing Middle Earth to San Diego Comic Con 2012

San Diego Comic Con 2012 is just in one more week and we are excited! Each year we have looked forward to attending, but this year is a little more special for us with the return of Middle Earth to the big screen. The Hobbit premieres in the U.S., December 14th. Along with the huge Warner Brothers panel on Saturday, July 14th, which features The Hobbit, we will once again be privileged in seeing one of the companies, Weta Workshop, who has helped in designs, creatures, weapons, and so much more in The Lord of the Rings.

Weta can be found at booth #3513B with even a larger booth! Weta will be bringing Middle Earth to San Diego Comic Con and unveiling an initial range of collectibles and prop replicas from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.  

The Weta crew will bring a few great surprises along with the unveiling of a few incredible pieces, including 

Barad-dur - Fortress of Sauron.  

For the first time, The Lord of the Rings diorama, Fellowship of the Ring sets will be unveiled as well. There are 3 sets that feature all nine walkers and one faithful pony sculpted in intricate detail, making their journey across Middle-earth. 

Warner Brothers and Weta Workshop Partner for The Hobbit Collectibles

Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Weta Workshop announced today a partnership under which the innovative design company will develop and market a wide range of authentic prop replicas, collectibles and merchandise based on the upcoming films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again, productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). The licensing agreement grants Weta access to the library of characters, settings, and stories for the two films. The first products in the collection will be unveiled at San Diego Comic-Con at the Weta booth (#3513B) in July 2012, along with a limited number of exclusive pieces that will be available for purchase.

Guardians of Middle-Earth E3 Trailer

Guardians of Middle-earth brings up to 10 players together in five versus five competitive multiplayer battle arenas in the epic setting of Middle-earth. The game offers more than 20 iconic guardians, including Gandalf, Sauron, Gollum, Thráin and many more, for players to control in player versus player (PVP) matches. Gamers will have the ability to connect with other players via an in-game voice communication system, as well as access to a comprehensive online stat and leader board system where they can track friends' victories and defeats, and more.

The Guardians of Middle-Earth will be available on PS3 and XBox 360.

Lego The Lord of the Rings E3 Teaser Trailer

It was only going to be a matter of time that Lego would be bringing us a Lord of the Rings game with the Lego sets recently being released and let me say I have been waiting for this one! The teaser trailer looks amazing!

The Return of The Lord Of The Rings Helm Collection

We are very excited about this year being a huge year for The Lord of the Rings fans with the release of The Hobbit in theatres this December! We are huge fans and have collected the action figures from ToyBiz, statues and helms from Sideshow Collectibles, and much more. One of our favorite lines was actually The Lord of the Rings helm collection from Sideshow Collectibles and Weta. Well, we have some amazing news from Weta that they have brought the helm collection back!!

The Weta Workshop has just launched the first in The Lord of the Rings helm collection. We can either get the opportunity to restart our helm collection or start it. The Uruk-hai General's 1/4 scale helm is the first of hopefully many to come from Weta. It has an extremely limited run of only 500 and is now available for Pre-order.

The exquisite Uruk-hai General's 1/4 scale helm was created by the same artists and craftspeople who worked on The Lord of the Rings. The prop was designed by Warren Mahy and has been miniaturized by David Tremont and Jonny Brough.

It comes with the same pedestal stand as previous releases in Weta's The Lord of the Rings collection and will fit right in next to your other helms.

Hoping to strike his decisive blow in the War of the Ring, Saruman the White, fallen Wizard and pawn of the Dark Lord, threw his army of Uruk-hai at the people of Rohan.

At the great stone fortress of Helm's Deep the newly forged and blooded forces of the Wizard fell upon the defenders of King Theoden's redoubt like waves against a shore, inexorably tearing at rock and shield alike with claws, teeth and rough hewn blades of cold iron. What Saruman's Orc-bred minions lacked in experience they made up in overwhelming numbers and irrepressible hunger for carnage and ruin.

Channelling the raw energy of his soldiers, Saruman appointed officers from their ranks to direct their savagery to greatest effect, and these he crowned with skull-faced wide-crested battle helms so they might be seen and obeyed by their men amid the surging throng. According to rank and function, each commander's crest was wrought in a distinctive shape and emblazoned in crude white and crimson heraldry of Uruk design, a fearsome visage heralding near certain doom for the keep's beleaguered defenders.

 If you are new to The Lord of the Rings Helm collection, you will definitely love the amazing details in the helmets that Weta has created. We have many of the first pieces and we truly love this line!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Official Trailer

Warner Brothers, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey official trailer has arrived! The Angry Koala Gear crew is so excited and we have been counting the days for this moment when we first learned of its   release a couple of weeks ago. What an amazing week it has been for Lord of the Rings fans with the celebration of the 10 year anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring being released and then knowing we have one year from seeing The Hobbit on the big screen. 

Actually, we can say it has been an amazing ride this whole year because we learned that The Hobbit would be directed by non other than Peter Jackson himself. Guillermo del Toro was to direct it, but because of conflicts he would have to back out. We are glad of how things have turned out because Peter Jackson belongs with directing J.R.R. Tolkien's masterpiece and he already has created an amazing, epic trilogy in The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit will feature stars Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, the return of Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Richard Armitage as Thorin, Luke Evans as Bard the Bowman, Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel, Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug, and of course the amazing Andy Serkis returning in his role as Gollum. 

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be in theatres next December 14, 2012.

We finally return to Middle-earth tonight, December 20th at 7pm US Pacific Time with the trailer of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey! Warner Brothers and Peter Jackson will deliver J.R.R. Tolkien's classic to the big screen once again, which begins in less than a year, December 14, 2012.  

 

We are so excited that this moment has finally arrived and look forward to the trailer! We want to know what you are looking forward to seeing in The Hobbit.

It was only a matter of time that Lord of the Rings fans would finally get toys from Lego. We have seen many amazing custom Lego Lord of the Rings sets and I was only hoping that this collaboration would one day come true.

Building Sets Based on Epic Film Trilogy and Forthcoming Theatrical Release Slated for 2012
Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The LEGO Group announced today a partnership that awards the world’s leading construction toy brand exclusive rights to develop build-and-play construction sets based on THE LORD OF THE RINGS™ trilogy and the two films based on THE HOBBIT™. The multi-year licensing agreement grants access to the library of characters, settings, and stories for THE LORD OF THE RINGS property, as well as films The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Hobbit: There and Back Again. 

LEGO® THE LORD OF THE RINGS construction sets are slated for a rolling global launch beginning in June 2012 in the United States, with LEGO THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY scheduled for later in the year.

“Only LEGO, with their expertise in the construction category, is capable of doing justice to the incredibly imaginative environments depicted in the world of THE LORD OF THE RINGS and the two films based on THE HOBBIT,” said Karen McTier, executive vice president, domestic licensing and worldwide marketing, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “These films give life to amazing worlds and characters and we are thrilled to bring fans these products that deliver an imaginative play experience befitting of these beloved properties.” 

The LEGO THE LORD OF THE RINGS collection will translate into LEGO form the epic locations, scenes and characters of Middle-earth as depicted in all three films, including The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. 

In late 2012, LEGO THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY will give fans of all ages a chance to build and play out the fantastical story and new characters of the legendary Middle-earth adventures depicted in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey from Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Peter Jackson, slated to premiere December 14, 2012.

“Our collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products has delivered numerous worldwide successes in the construction toy aisle with lines like LEGO HARRY POTTER and LEGO BATMAN, introducing us to loyal audiences who love great stories, strong characters and the toys that they inspire,” said Jill Wilfert, vice president, licensing and entertainment for The LEGO Group. “It’s particularly exciting to now be able to create sets based on the fantasy worlds and characters from THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and the two films based on THE HOBBIT, not only because we know they will foster collectability and creative play, but also because these are two properties that our fans have been asking us to create for years.”

The Lord of the Rings Celebrates 10 Years with The Fellowship of the Ring

Do you remember what you were doing December 2001? Well, I am pretty sure if you were a J.R.R. Tolkien fan as we are, you were waiting in line to see the one movie that would change the way movies were made! The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring definitely changed movies for me just as Star Wars: A New Hope. This was by far the greatest movie I had ever seen and I became an instant fan of Peter Jackson's works, even though I already loved The Frighteners. The effects were amazing with a visual perfection throughout the film. I had to watch The Fellowship of the Ring a few times in the theatre because it brought back the great memories of seeing the Original Trilogy Star Wars on the big screen with my dad. And just like Star Wars did for me, I had to go after the merchandise and collectibles of this new Epic Trilogy that would be.

 The movie had a great director, script, cast and of course amazing effects, costumes, and make up thanks to Weta! Weta was a company that I loved because of how realistic they made the Orcs, Uruk-hai, Hobbit feet, to all of the amazing armor.

This is only a tiny speck of what Weta did to help create this instant classic! Again, I find it amazing that it already has been 10 years and I just want to thank Peter Jackson, the cast, Weta, and those responsible for creating a film that would make me enjoy movies even more! 

We will have even more to look forward to in the release of The Hobbit next December 2012!
