The Hobbit Toys Journey to Retailers This Monday, October 1st

Almost a year after Warner Bros. Consumer Productsannounced that The Bridge Direct was named co-master toy partner for the upcoming The Hobbit Trilogy, the much-anticipated product line has finally made the journey to retail shelves. Beginning on Monday October 1, fans will be able to take home the authentic collection of toys, including 3.75” figures, 6” figures, collector packs and role play accessories, that are inspired by The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first film in the trilogy, a production of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM).

“The Bridge Direct has done a spectacular job of capturing the richly imagined world of Middle-earth in their new toy collection,” said Brad Globe, President, Warner Bros. Consumer Products. “The product line will hit retailer shelves just in time to add to the excitement around the highly anticipated release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.”

3.75” Scale Action Figures – Available in Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the Grey, Thorin Oakenshield, Grinnah the Goblin and Legolas Greenleaf, these 3.75" scale action figures contain up to 12 points of articulation and replicate the authentic facial features, clothing, weapons and accessories of the character in painstaking detail. 3.75” Scale Action Figure 2-Packs – These pairings of 3.75" scale action figures are available in four styles: Bilbo and Gollum, Balin and Dwalin, Kili and Fili, and Legolas Greenleaf and Tauriel, with both Balin and Tauriel being EXCLUSIVE to the 2-Packs at this scale in this series.  (For Ages 4+, SRP $14.99 each)

Several of the items are currently available for pre-sale orders at major online retailers, and the entire collection will be available in both mass and specialty retail chains nationwide come Monday, October 1.  Members of the media will be able to preview The Hobbit inspired toy line today at the annual Time to Play Holiday Showcase in New York City.

The Lord of the Rings fans should be very pleased to know that The Hobbit action figures will begin to be available for pre-order tomorrow, Saturday September 1st. Well it certainly looks like we will be pre-ordering our Hobbit figures early tomorrow morning. We look forward to seeing the figures and displaying them next to our Lord of the Rings figures from ToyBiz.

The Hobbit Action Figures are Coming from Bridge Direct This Fall

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens in theaters on December 14th and we are excited. We are great fans of The Lord of the Rings and have been anxiously waiting for The Hobbit. Tolkien's masterpieces have come to life thanks to Peter Jackson, his team, and Warner Brothers. During the release of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, we would be collectors of the merchandise from Sideshow Collectibles and Weta's statues and helmets. Thanks to Toy Biz, we would also collect the action figures. 

2012 brings us a new year in merchandise for The Hobbit. Weta continues to produce amazing statues, shields, and other replicas. Sideshow Collectibles will also have statues from The Hobbit later in the year and Gentle Giant will be creating amazing mini busts. Bridge Direct will be joining in on bringing Tolkien's Middle Earth to life in the action figure world and we are excited. In an earlier post right before San Diego Comic Con 2012, we would receive a Press Release from Bridge Direct, which let us know what we would expect in the Fall for The Hobbit. 

Bridge Direct would actually give us a special treat at San Diego Comic Con 2012 by sharing a booth with Weta and Gentle Giant and bringing some of their line in the action figures, plus an SDCC Exclusive figure, Invisible Bilbo Baggins. The San Diego Comic Con Exclusive Invisible Bilbo Baggins from Bridge Direct is actually still available on the Gentle Giant website. 

Bridge Direct will be offering a great line of toys in The Hobbit with 3.75" figures ($7.99) and 6" figures ($14.99), which will be sold everywhere. 

Weta The Hobbit Exclusives for San Diego Comic Con 2012

Middle-earth is coming to San Diego Comic Con in a big way next weekend, not only with the Warner Brothers panel for The Hobbit, Direct Bridge's Bilbo Baggins figure, Gentle Giants new license, and now statues from Weta! 

Weta will be offering two limited edition collectibles for the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy collection. 

Weta will be unveiling their initial range of collectibles and prop replicas based on the upcoming films, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (December 2012) and The Hobbit: There and Back Again (December 2013), productions of New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Created by the original film artists in New Zealand and under license from Warner Bros. Consumer Products, these authentic collectibles will be available to order in late 2012.  

 In addition, Weta is excited to offer two exclusive items for sale at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The Hobbit - Bilbo Baggins Exclusive Figure from San Diego Comic Con

We first heard word that action figures would be coming soon from Bridge Direct for The Hobbit late last year and we were very excited. We have a great Lord of the Rings collection from Toy Biz during the releases of the trilogy. We would miss the LOTR action figures once we learned that the line would end. 

Great news is that there will be a full line from Bridge Direct and we are anxiously waiting to see what they will be creating. Great news for San Diego Comic Con attendees though! We will have the opportunity to hopefully get our hands on the SDCC Exclusive Bilbo Baggins figure from Bridge Direct.
