San Diego Comic Con 2016 - Nickelodeon Exclusives Including The Nick Box

Nickelodeon is blasting open its vaults for an immersive retro experience at this year’s SDCC, including retail items that pay tribute to some of the most memorable shows from the ‘90s like Rugrats and Double Dare, and fan-favorite properties like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar and The Legend of Korra.

 The following Nickelodeon exclusives will be found at their SDCC Booth #4113:

The Nick Box

The Nick Box is a curated assortment of exclusive items from popular Nick ‘90s shows including The Ren & Stimpy Show, Rugrats, Hey Arnold! and CatDog.  This initial box includes a 4.5” Reptar Vinyl, a ceramic glazed Stimpy-molded mug, a 9” plush of Spunky from Rocko’s Modern Life and more. Following SDCC, The Nick Box will be available as an exclusive subscription service at www.thenickbox.com, where consumers can sign up to receive additional boxes per year.

Playmates Exclusive Bebop with Warthog Trike

Straight out of the theatrical film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows comes this exclusive Bebop and Warthog Trike from Playmates. It takes a big bike to move this warthog around, and the movie-inspired chopper was created by Paul Jr Designs. With two rocket grenade projectiles and custom vacuum-metallized “chrome” finishes, this alternate deco Bebop features a collector window-box packaging with outer sleeve. This is a SDCC exclusive in a limited edition of 500.

Kidrobot Exclusive Triceraton

Kidrobot brings the fan-favorite Triceraton to life with a brand-new medium figure. Triceratons are a kick-butt alien race from the original ‘80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. This figure, coming in the SDCC exclusive green colorway, is perfect for any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. Cowabunga, dude!

Kidrobot introduces the menacing Shredder to SDCC with a brand-new medium figure. In the Gold SDCC exclusive colorway,  Shredder is designed in the style of the original ‘80s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Get shredding!

The Loyal Subjects Exclusive Raph vs. Slash Two Pack

The Loyal Subjects SDCC Exclusive Two Pack featuring Slash and Raphael is influenced by the '80s Toy Color versions and features up to nine points of articulation per collectible, plus multiple and interchangeable accessories. It includes an ornate and resealable window box with insert card. This Two Pack is limited to 300 and is the only way to complete the Toy Color versions of all Turtle Heroes.

Dark Horse Exclusive Korra Statuette

The strong-willed Avatar Korra is beautifully captured in this majestic pose from The Legend of Korra. This variant sepia version of the original Dark Horse full-color edition is available only at SDCC from Nickelodeon in a limited edition of 300. Each 8” hand-painted polystone statuette is hand numbered and includes a certificate of authenticity.

Dark Horse World Premiere Aang Statuette

As the Avatar of his time, Aang is the only one capable of using all four bending arts: earth, water, fire, and air.  This statuette captures Aang in a heroic pose from Avatar, the Nickelodeon animated series and Dark Horse comics. This first-edition Aang statuette is making its world premiere at SDCC. Each 7” hand-painted polystone statuette is hand numbered in an edition of only 150 and includes a certificate of authenticity.

Kidrobot has announced their exclusives for San Diego Comic Con 2016 and they are offering pre-orders for them on Kidrobot.com that will start Monday, June 13th. A limited amount of each exclusive will be available to pre-order at a special pre-order price for SDCC pick-up only. Kidrobot has stated that the pre-orders will only be available for pick-up at San Diego Comic Con with Order #, valid ID, and badge must be presented at pick-up. Pizza Hut's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Thrower at Petco Park for San Diego Comic Con

Well, the 2014 San Diego Comic Con has come to an end and we will have lots to share these next few days. Do we wish it continued? Yes, but I guess life must go on. Each year we attend SDCC, it seems like there is something new and original and 2014 definitely brought it big from Zip Lines in Gotham City, life sized Hot Wheels Darth Vader Car, Godzilla in the back of the San Diego Convention Center, and yes, a real Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizza Thrower! 

Pizza Hut would create something amazing and special for the TMNT fans and just in time before the release of Paramount Pictures Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to hit theaters August 8th. The Pizza Hut TMNT Pizza Thrower would be found in the Petco Park parking lot where there were lots of cool events and activities going on throughout the San Diego Comic Con weekend. 

When we first learned about the TMNT Pizza Thrower being built, we knew we would have to make a stop at Petco Park. There it was with lots of fans amazed as we were at first glance and seeing someone sitting on that chair on top and getting ready to aim that pizza launcher at Shredder and his Foot Clan. 

Here are some of the stats for the Pizza Hut TMNT Pizza Thrower event at Petco Park:

• 5,500: Number of attendees that fired pizzas from the life-size, functional Pizza Hut Pizza Thrower 

• 33 percent – estimated accuracy of participants
• 4,000 – Number of times Shredder target was hit by flying pizzas
• 10 percent – Percentage of participates that hit the target on all three attempts (it was tough!)

• 18,000+: slices of Pizza Hut Cheesy Bites pizzas were sampled (Yes, we definitely had to have a couple of slices ourselves!) 

• 800+: Number of pizza boxes were used to make the furniture featured into the Pizza Hut/TMNT experience (photo below)

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Team Up with the Ghosbusters to Save the Universe

 

Two teams of legendary heroes will join forces this fall to save New York City and the world from the paranormal and the monstrous when the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cross paths with the Ghostbusters! With both franchises celebrating their 30^th anniversaries this year, it’s never been better time to team up Proton Packs with Ninjutsu!

Transported to a different universe by a faulty invention, the TMNT find themselves in a New York City much like their own, but with one major exception: a rampant ghost problem! If that weren’t enough, the Turtles and their reluctant new hosts, the Ghostbusters, soon find that the Turtles didn’t come alone…

The crossover is written by two talented creators who couldn’t be better acquainted with these unique franchises — Tom Waltz and Erik Burnham. In addition to writing the ongoing Turtles series at IDW, Waltz has also served as editor for the ongoing Ghostbusters series, written by Burnham ­who, in turn, co-wrote the critically acclaimed series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Secret History of The Foot Clan.

“A couple of years ago, Tom Waltz and I chatted like the fans we are about how insanely fun this crossover would be if we ever got the chance to write it,” said series co-writer Erik Burnham. “As I sit here today, my excitement level is at eleven.”

“This is an idea that Erik, series editor Bobby Curnow, and I have bounced off each other for quite a while,” said series co-writer Tom Waltz. “And being as deeply entrenched in both properties as the three of us are gives us a unique perspective on how to bring them together. And what better time to do it than during the combined 30^th year anniversary celebration?”

“Both Ghostbusters and Turtles are fun, funny and just a little bit weird,” said Curnow. “So putting the two together is a natural choice, especially when you consider the fact that Tom and Erik have worked on both properties for years. This one should be an absolute blast!”

Long-time Ghostbusters artist Dan Schoening will take on cover and interior art duties. Currently showing off the immensity of his talents in the Ghostbusters arc “Mass Hysteria,” Schoening has proven his ability to give this special mini-series the epic scale it deserves. Issue #1 will sport a variant cover by T-Rex Jones, who has provided covers to both series at IDW.

Actively hoped for by fans for years, this epic four-issue event kicks off this October!
