Free Comic Book Day May 2012

Did you have a chance to go to your local comic book shop for Free Comic Book Day? We did and had a blast.  Our first stop was at Heroes and Villains. It was there we were met with a long line of other comic book fans. We were greeted by The Ghost Busters, Batman, Jango Fett and the Emperor just to name a few of the cosplayers.

Inside we stood in line to pick up free comics, even Batman had to wait in line. You could select one of each title available for Free Comic Book Day. At the end of the free comics line, patrons were able to pick out a free hero-clix. We grabbed Antivenom and Beast, it was a nice surprise.

We were able to get a couple of free quick sketches from illustrator and author, Adam Rex. He created the cover art for The Guild free comic. He sketched Tinkerballa and Vork from The Guild.

In addition, Eric Esquivel, Henry Barajas and Ernest Romero were on hand signing copies of the Girl Scouts In Space.

After spending some time at Heroes and Villians, we headed over to R-Galaxy. At R-Galaxy, you could select six of the free comics. After selecting the six comics, you could rummage through some of the boxes put aside and get 20 free comics. There were plenty of boxes to choose from.

We also ran into custom toy artist, Pat Billings. We wrote about his custom pieces and even the custom Jedi piece he created. He had some new creations on display. They are amazing check them out below.

Overall today was another successful Free Comic Book Day. It was nice to see the comic book stores packed with others that appreciate comics as much as we do. Thank you to Heroes and Villains and R-Galaxy for putting together great events for Free Comic Book Day.
