Heroes and Villains Tucson is Participating in Star Wars Reads Day

Star Wars Reads Day II is an event in its second year. Originally started by Lucasfilm in 2012, the event is an opportunity for libraries, bookstores and literacy advocates to utilize the rich Star Wars library to bring more awareness of child literacy issues.

Heroes & Villains is a local comic book store, in business for ten years. With a long history of community involvement, Star Wars Reads presents a natural opportunity for the store to hold an event literacy to kids. Several events are scheduled for the day, including comic readings from Captain Rex, the popular Star Wars character from the Clone Wars animated TV show, plus kids will be given a Star Wars themed activity book designed to encourage kids to explore the Star Wars Universe through books.

As a fan of the Star Wars Universe, I am especially excited to be involved with Star Wars Reads. Very few properties exist that capture the imagination of kids the way the Star Wars Universe does, and we think this is a great way to encourage kids to read”, said Mike Camp, owner of Heroes & Villains.

Activities start at 10:00am on Saturday, October 5th, and run through 1:00pm that afternoon. Activity kits are limited so early arrival is encouraged.
