ComiXology’s Meet Your Makers summer extravaganza continues
with “The Blank Page Project” charity event. The Hero Initiative
partners with comiXology and creators Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner
to host this fully catered 2-hour charity event where all fans are
invited to watch creators fill “The Blank Page” – a 12 foot by 8 foot
gigantic comic page that will auctioned off at a later date with
proceeds going towards The Hero Initiative – a charity that helps
creators in need.
“The Blank Page Project” charity event is open to all fans and creators. The event will take place on Thursday, July 18th from 5pm to 7pm
during Comic-Con International ’13 outside the Vela restaurant, which
is located at the back of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel, a quick
walk from the San Diego Convention Center.
“We all know that without creators all we would have is a blank page
and comiXology is proud to co-host this charity event with the Hero
Initiative, Jimmy and Amanda” said comiXology co-founder and CEO David
Steinberger. “This is a great opportunity for comiXology fans to ‘meet
their makers’ – and for us to have an opportunity to showcase the great
work of creators at a relaxed event that’s all for a good cause – The
Hero Initiative.”
“The Hero Initiative has been committed to helping creators in need
for the past thirteen years. We’re excited to partner with comiXology
for 'The Blank Page Project' to bring creators and fans together to help
creators in need,” said Jim McLauchlin, president of The Hero
Initiative. “Auctioning off a 12-by-8 foot gigantic comic book page that
has art and signatures from top comic creators across the industry will
undoubtedly help us raise more money for the good work The Hero
Initiative does.”
“We’re excited to host ‘The Blank Page Project’ charity event put on
by comiXology and The Hero Initiative, “ said noted creators Jimmy
Palmiotti and Amanda Conner. “We can’t wait to meet all the fans while
we are having fun filling up this gigantic canvas that we’ll be
auctioning off to help creators.”
“The Blank Page Project” and comiXology’s partnership with The Hero
Initiative to raise money for comic creators in need is just one part of
comiXology’s summer long Meet Your Makers event celebrating comic creators and the creation of comics.
As part of their commitment to creators, this past March comiXology debuted comiXology Submit,
an easy to use self-publishing portal that enables independent comic
book creators to reach comiXology’s global audience of comic fans.
