U1 Toy Arts

So I know I am late with this post...  I apologize.  Life is crazy right now, but I couldn’t go without taking this time to talk about U1 Toy Arts.  The vinyl and resin craze has expanded.  We no longer have just a couple of platforms to work with.  U1 Toy Arts has taken the platform concept and taken it into a brand new direction.  U1’s products immediately caught my attention, because they hit home with me.  I have been into graffiti since my sophomore year of high school.  David Kawano, the co-founder and artist of U1 has taken pieces done by graffiti artists and replicated them in 3 dimensional form with resin casts, dubbed “Throw-Ups.”  David’s intention was not to do original pieces for the artists, but rather take existing ones and replicate them.  His attention to detail is amazing.  I think that his designs are one piece of the future of customizable toys/figures/platforms.  If you are a true fan of hip-hop, then U1’s Throw-Ups and Canvases/Backdrops (to do your very own hit-ups) are obvious choices….

BUT… don’t let their urban projects fool you.  U1 also offers figures, including Boris, which was designed by Nathan Hamill (Mark Hamill/Luke Skywalker’s son).  If you would like to learn more about David Kawano’s vision, see what they have to offer, and follow them to see what’s in their future, please visit their website.  You can also follow them on twitter and facebook.
