Star Wars Jedi- The Dark Side #1 is definitely a new Star Wars series that fans will want to start reading. If you have not had the opportunity to begin reading a new Star Wars series, this may be the one. The story takes place 53 years before the Battle of Yavin, and we see a very familiar face in the first scene, Master Qui Gon Jinn. The beginning scenes show Qui Gon training with his padawan, Xanatos and another young Jedi, Feemor. This is a great Lightsaber and Jedi training where we see an intense fight. (Maybe a surprise)
Master Jinn is on Coruscant, and we will soon see a loved Master Jedi filled with great wisdom, Yoda. Yoda foresees grave danger on Telos IV, the homeworld of Xanatos. Young Padawan Xanatos is a noble person who happens to be the son of the King of Telos IV. Master Yoda and the Jedi Council are concerned of civil unrest because of a recent murder. Because of the murder, the young Padawan does become emotional and Master Yoda sends Master Qui Gon Jinn and his Padawan Xanatos to Telos IV. Xanatos must learn to control his emotions and weaknesses to become the Jedi that Qui Gon expects.
I do not want to give too much away to this great first issue of Star Wars Jedi- The Dark Side. It is definitely a great story so far, and I want more. It is great to see a few familiar faces and is this a little history in the Star Wars Galaxy of what may help lead into The Phantom Menace? The artwork is great and ties in very well with the script. The art is by Mahmud Asrar. The script is by Scott Allie and the story flows really good and makes you want more. I can not wait to pick up the Star Wars Jedi-The Dark Side #1 today and continue reading this series.
