Image Comics C.O.W.L. #3 First Look - Mad Men Meets Avengers

“American history gets overhauled in C.O.W.L., a new series about the superhero labor union of 1960s Chicago that’s been described as Mad Men meets Avengers.”
—The Hollywood Reporter

The third issue of Kyle Higgins (Batman, Nightwing), Alec Siegel (Captain America, Avengers), and Rod Reis’ (Justice League) all-new ongoing series C.O.W.L. reveals an unexpected plot twist and things become dire for the threatened superhero union. Likened to popular television shows Mad Men and The Wire, C.O.W.L. explores heroes in a time of tumultuous change, as they struggle to combat corruption, navigate politics, and maintain the public’s faith.

In C.O.W.L. #3 readers will learn more about Radia and her struggle to gain respect in the the organization and the city. Geoffrey discovers that C.O.W.L.’s future is anything but guaranteed and that its survival hangs in the balance. At the same time, John’s investigation into the union takes a much darker turn.

"With 11th hour negotiations failing, C.O.W.L.'s future has never been bleaker…” said Higgins. “Which makes this quite the turning point for the book. This isn't a series about the birth of the first superhero labor union—it's a series about the death of it."

"With all the plot and betrayal, the tone of the series will get darker and this will definitely be reflected in the art..." added Reis. "You can expect more red in the future issues!"

"Geoffrey Warner, Radia, and John Pierce make decisions in Issue 3 that are going alter the course of their lives—as well as C.O.W.L.'s future," hinted Siegel. "To say things are about to get more complicated is an understatement.

"
