Lord of The Rings Blu Ray Release Event

Last night was the release of the Lord of The Rings Blu Ray Extended Version. Warner Brothers, The One Ring, Weta Workshop, the Noble Collection, and Best Buy promoted the event for the awesome event. The festivities included trivia, freebies, food, costumes, Costume Contest, fireworks and laser show,  and meeting a couple of actors from the films.

The event was held at the West LA Best Buy and registration began at noon. The costume contestants began the registration process to enter the chance to win a trip to New Zealand. The first 150 attendees received a gold wristband, which allowed them to get autographs by John Noble and Sala Baker. We were lucky numbers 49 and 50. When we checked into the One Ring table, we got a Lord of the Rings Blu Ray Extended Version release poster. Attendees and the contestants were able to sign up at until 7pm. The costume contest started after 7pm. (Check out our post on the contest) A couple of great trivia contests followed the presentation of the contestants. There were great prizes for the trivia contests, which included 4 tickets to the Lord of The Rings Concert. After the trivia contests, we went live with a Skype call directly from New Zealand where Richard Taylor and another Weta staff announced the winners of the costume contest. Following the announcement, John Noble and Sala Baker made their appearance.

Right at midnight, a great firework and laser show was presented for the official midnight release of the Lord of the Rings Blu Ray Extended release. We then had a chance to purchase our sets and get them signed by John Noble and Sala Baker. The event was run very well and they kept us in line in the order of our wristbands. We were lucky to be behind a couple of the costume contestants, the great Orc and Gandalf (known as the famous Singing Gandalf).

Check out the video below for highlights from the event.
