Course of the Force Finale Run in San Diego on July 11, 2012

History would be made on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 and we were fortunate to attend and be part of it. Course of the Force would be introduced for the first time this year and created by Lucasfilm Ltd., Nerdist Industries and Octagon. Course of the Force is an Olympic torch style relay run with lightsabers, where the participants will make a journey from Santa Monica to San Diego while benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. In this journey in the inaugural run, Course of the Force would help raise well over $100,000 and continues to grow as their auctions continue on Ebay through July 21st.

The adventure would begin on Saturday, July 7, 2012 in Santa Monica where great festivities occurred in honor of lighting the torch (lightsaber) to begin the long journey to Endor (I mean San Diego). During the run, parties would finish off the successful lightsaber passings in each city, each day.

We were fortunate to be part of the history by attending the grand finale of the run on the final day in San Diego at the Balboa Theater.

We forgot to mention that there were some amazing vehicles along for this run, including the Jabba's Sail Barge or like they called it the "Pleasure Barge". I absolutely loved the Star Wars decorated RV's with Yoda and Obi-Wan Kenobi and of course the Sail Barge, which was amazing.

The run would finale end up at the Balboa Theater in San Diego and would be hosted by Chris Hardwick (Talking Dead) and Ashley Eckstein (Her Universe). We were fortunate to meet Chris Hardwick who was such a nice guy and he even signed my Course of the Force Inaugural shirt!

The Course of the Force finale party would soon begin inside the Balboa Theater, which honored the main reason for the event, Make-A-Wish Foundation who would have a few participants to celebrate the successful event.

Overall, the event was great fun and we had a blast. It was a great honor to see the inaugural run of this event that was great success that will continue each year on out now. San Diego Comic Con has grown tremendously since I first attended in the mid 90's and I am glad to see that events such as the Course of the Force can be part of it, especially knowing how incredibly successful it was to help grant wishes!

Very cool surprises went out to the runners and participants of the Course of the Force event. They were given an exclusive Star Wars FX Lightsaber with a special Course of the Force hilt limited to only 1000 pieces. The first 100 attendees of the Course of the Force finale at Balboa Theater were also given one as well. (Yes, we have one too!!!)

Keep in mind everyone, that there are still Course of the Force special items on Ebay for sell until July 21st. It is for a tremendous cause to help Make-A-Wish Foundation.

See you next year! May the Force Be With You
